Birmingham has a large stock of purpose-built student accommodation, hotels and offices that stay occupied all year, so work at height has to fit around residents, staff and the public. Rope access keeps entrances and pavements clear, needs no scaffold on the street, and lets the team work in short, planned windows rather than taking over the building for weeks.
At True Student in Birmingham we delivered a brand rollout on a fully operational student accommodation building for Ascot: built-up lettering, contra-vision vinyl and large-format banners. Access, sequencing and temporary closures were planned with the site team and building management so residents, contractors and the public were disrupted as little as possible.
Every job starts with a survey and RAMS written for that building. We agree access, anchorage and working hours with building management before anyone arrives, and the rope access is supervised on site by an IRATA Level 3 technician, as the IRATA code of practice requires.
